What is Ranthambore?
Ranthambore National Park in Rajasthan is one of India's best-known tiger reserves, set around a historic hilltop fort. Beyond tigers, it is home to leopards, sloth bears, deer, crocodiles, and rich birdlife.
How it fits the route
Ranthambore sits a few hours from Jaipur, so it slots in neatly after the Jaipur leg. Adding two nights gives you time for a couple of safari drives before returning toward Delhi — turning a 6-day trip into about 8 days.
About the safari
Safaris run in shared or private jeeps and canters into designated zones, in morning and afternoon slots. Sightings are never guaranteed with wild tigers, but Ranthambore offers some of India's better chances.
Best time for tigers
The park is generally open October to June, with the hotter, drier months of April to June often best for sightings as animals gather near water. Core zones typically close during the monsoon.
