### Neelakurinji Bloom in Munnar – A Rare Natural Wonder

Munnar's breathtaking landscapes are beginning to welcome the rare bloom of the Neelakurinji flowers. At present, these beautiful purple-blue blossoms can be seen in a few areas around the Chokramudi hills, with a wider bloom expected across the high-altitude grasslands of Mattupetty, Sevenmala, and Meesapulimala during September and October.

Neelakurinji (Strobilanthes kunthiana) is one of Kerala's most fascinating wildflowers, known for its unique blooming pattern. While the spectacular mass flowering in Eravikulam National Park takes place once every 12 years (the next major bloom is expected in 2030), smaller populations bloom in different locations at varying intervals, offering visitors a chance to witness this rare natural phenomenon even between the major flowering cycles.

Recommended Places to Experience the Bloom

• Chokramudi Hills
• Edalimedu (Near Mattupetty)
• Gundumala
• Selected areas of Mattupetty, Sevenmala, and Meesapulimala
