Six days is the sweet spot for a first Kashmir trip — enough to cover the classic "Paradise" circuit of Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam, and Sonamarg at a comfortable pace. Here is a day-by-day Kashmir 6-day itinerary you can adapt to your dates.
At a glance
Fly into Srinagar, base yourself on Dal Lake, and take day trips out to the meadows and valleys, with a private cab and driver throughout. Every day below is customizable — swap nights, add Doodhpathri or Yusmarg, or extend for the Amarnath route.
Day 1 — Arrive Srinagar
Arrive at Srinagar, settle into a Dal Lake houseboat or hotel, and take an evening shikara ride across the lake past floating gardens. A gentle start to acclimatise.
Day 2 — Srinagar sightseeing
Visit the Mughal gardens — Nishat, Shalimar, and Chashme Shahi — the tulip garden in season, and the old city's mosques and markets.
Day 3 — Gulmarg day trip
Drive up to Gulmarg for its meadows and the Gulmarg Gondola, one of the world's highest cable cars, with sweeping mountain views (and snow in winter).
Day 4 — Pahalgam
Head to Pahalgam in the Lidder valley, a base for the Betaab Valley, Aru, and Chandanwari. Pine forests, meadows, and river views.
Day 5 — Sonamarg
Day trip to Sonamarg, the "meadow of gold," with the Thajiwas glacier and dramatic alpine scenery, then back to Srinagar.
Day 6 — Departure
A final Srinagar morning — a last shikara ride or some Kashmiri handicraft shopping — before your flight home.
